Hi Reader, As business owners, we have a lot to consider. To give you some insights into what other entrepreneurs are considering right now, I've condensed 17 recent conversations with other business owners into three themes. Before I get into that, though, I'm excited to share FUEL Day. The first FUEL Day is 2/29. It's two hours to move your business forward during focused work time in a supportive environment with my guidance! Now, let's dig into those themes! Opportunity or Distraction? We have a lot of potential ideas and "opportunities" that come across our desks. From new technology, collaborations, or marketing ideas, entrepreneurs I speak with have a never-ending firehose of ideas coming at them. The problem is that they don't know if those ideas are an opportunity to pursue or a distraction to move beyond. My advice: To determine if something new is a genuine opportunity, there are two things you can do. First, double-check your gut instincts. While I will always advise you to trust your gut instincts, I firmly believe in triangulating it through research. Second, ask yourself if it can wait. In my experience, an opportunity is rarely once-in-a-lifetime. If the opportunity will be there tomorrow, next month, or next year, maybe right now, it's more of a distraction. Appreciating Brilliance I've had many entrepreneurs say to me, "I met the most amazing business owner," and then the next few minutes of our conversation is all about that other business owner. One thing is very clear - most entrepreneurs want to support each other, and they appreciate the brilliance they see in others (a lot more than their own, but that's in the next section). My advice: You never know the impact you have on someone. You also never know the impact someone might have on you. Don't judge a conversation before it happens. If you're open to experiencing the brilliance of other business owners, you'll often be surprised and delighted with the network you build. Imposter Syndrome Whether they're just starting, or if they've run a successful business for 20 years, a lot of entrepreneurs struggle with feeling not worthy or underserving of what they've accomplished. I struggle with imposter syndrome regularly, and I'm not the only one. And for entrepreneurs, building confidence is easier said than done. My advice: To overcome imposter syndrome, let evidence build your confidence. Create a badass file of testimonials, notes, videos, images, and anything else that happens in your business that makes you feel like a badass. Because guess what - you are! When you have those moments of doubt, review that file. It really does help. Those three conversational themes really stood out to me in the past few weeks, and I felt they were important to share with you. It may be lonely at the top, but you are not alone. Please reach out at any time. Thanks for reading; I'll catch you next week! Julie Bee When you're ready, here's how I can help you:
